Taken from the Archives of the Fleet Air Arm Museum, these reminiscences add the personal element to the historical data and illustrate the tremendously changing circumstances of the Fleet Air Arm from formation to Cold War.  'What emerges from these pages is a particular spirit, peculiar to the Fleet Air Arm and reflecting its somewhat hybrid nature; a spirit derived from a high level of professional competence combined with a certain irreverence towards authority'.

Voices in Flight: The Fleet Air Arm

A broad and fascinating collection of memories from across the Fleet Air Arm, which provides not only a fascinating insight into training and operations over nearly a century, but also a clear feel for the the people involved. The recollections give a sense of the bravery often displayed, the struggles and challenges, together with the ever-present strand of wit and humour. Even as a former submariner, I found this book engrossing and I am left with renewed admiration for the Royal Navy's flying branch.

    First Class First Hand Observations

An essential read for everyone interested in the early days of Naval Aviation with first hand accounts of the birth of a professional band of brothers. So pleased to have served ('53 - '90) with the more modern members. Highly recommended.
