The Fleet Air Arm have numerous battle honours of which they are justly proud, but bravery isn't just about combat. Flying from moving ships at sea, often in appalling conditions, is courageous in itself without the added hazards of dangerous combat mission. During both world wars and in global conflicts since, Fleet Air Arm pilots have willingly and enthusiastically strapped themselves into their aircraft and taken off into all weathers and often against the odds.
